We're back what will most likely be the final post of the Horse Combinations Spotify era. I heard from several people after last week's update who felt similarly compelled to bail on the hated Daniel Ek, which was encouraging! Let's all dump this loser!
Anyways let's talk about the last handful of songs featured on a playlist of songs I heard and liked in June 2025 and then move the hell on from this evil tech company, most likely to what is realistically another slightly less evil tech company. Check out parts one and two if you missed those.
Yellow Swans - “Limited Space”
It's a Wednesday at 8:45am and I'm taking the train to work, listening to Yellow Swans and reading Solenoid, setting myself up to have an extremely normal day.
More weirdo experimental pop/electronic indie from Copenhagen. It is the official position of Horse Combinations that they’re really going crazy over there these days.
Fine - “Run”
Fine’s put out a pair of nice singles over the last few months as a follow up to 2024’s incredible Rocky Top Ballads LP. Of the two, I prefer “Run,” a cooly detached dream pop track with the same uncanny, artificial sheen that made her last album so special. Bonus points for featuring one of the least obtrusive police siren samples you’ll ever hear.
Gelli Haha - “Dynamite”
I’m really liking this new Gelli Haha record. Pee Wee’s Playhouse-core weirdo art girl pop with sleek disco production, the sort of thing I’m writing off as annoying LA bullshit most of the time but these songs are so cool!
Precocious Neophyte - “Show Me Your Mind”
I recently had the classic thing of listening to some interesting new songs by a band I’m only sort of aware of, checking to see if/when they’re coming to Chicago, and then turns out they were just at Gman three days earlier. Promise I’ll catch you next time around, Precocious Neophyte!

Hotline TNT - “Dance The Night Away”
Hotline TNT’s Cartwheel hit me like a ton of bricks back in 2023 so expectations were like, unfairly high for their new one. While it’s maybe not as consistent or as thrilling as Cartwheel, there’s a lot to like about Raspberry; for example the surprising, sparkling production of “Dance The Night Away,” buried late in the album’s second half.
Ezra Feinberg - “Experience Near”
Just a really nice closing track to a really nice collection of songs from 2018. Floaty pedal steel, twinkling acoustic guitars, droning ambience, all the shit I like.
That's all for now, check the full playlist below. Hopefully next time we see each other we will all be engaging with music in a slightly more ethical way!
